Functional nutrition has been a game-changer for me, as well as my clients, enabling us to prevent and even reverse chronic disease.
My passion for nutrition began when I was a teenager, inspired by my early experiences with baking. What started as an interest in creating delicious food soon grew into a deep curiosity about how food impacts the body—ultimately leading me to pursue a degree in dietetics.
After becoming a registered dietitian, I worked in a variety of settings, from prenatal and pediatric nutrition to school wellness and hospital-based weight management programs. As a mom of three, I’ve also put that knowledge to work at home, raising my kids with an emphasis on balanced eating and a healthy relationship with food.
But when I began experiencing chronic migraines, I quickly realized that my dietetic training didn’t offer the deeper answers I needed. Pain management brought only temporary relief, and I knew there had to be more to the story.
That search led me to functional nutrition—an evidence-based approach that aims to find and address the root-causes of illness. It views the body as an interconnected system, recognizing that symptoms in one area often stem from imbalances elsewhere.
